#202 - Opening General Session: The Project Economy - The Future of Work
Description:
Rapid technological advancements and shifting customer expectations have put increasing pressure on organizations, sparking wide discussion of the "future of work." How best can enterprises enable quick, efficient decisions amidst rapid, ongoing change? The critical element: that careers will increasingly revolve around a portfolio of projects rather than the traditional list of static job responsibilities. Those who are already working in a projectified way – consulting companies and freelancers in the gig economy, among others -- are in fact part of a much larger "Project Economy" that will apply to knowledge workers at leading organizations worldwide. Join this fascinating discussion with Safian and learn how to be part of the future of work, and the Project Economy, and the impact that projects will have on all of us.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to: (1) Discuss how technological change drives new organizational priorities; (2) Describe how the future of work mandates new project organizational paradigms; (3) Design an organization to support the "gig economy".
